Davidisms - A Broken Crayon Can Still Color

Children don’t care a bit about coloring with a broken crayon. Kids know it doesn’t matter whether or not the crayon is broken.
 
 Because a broken crayon can still color.
 
 Grown-ups should think the same way.
 
 Brokenness is a certainty of the human experience. Each and every one of us - at one time or another -will be broken. It should come as no surprise. Jesus foretold this certainty (John 16:33).
 
 When we’re broken and hurting, our natural inclination is to hide. To lick our wounds. To give up.
 
 But we must realize that God hasn’t given up on us. In fact, it’s in our very brokenness that God works all things together for our good. And his glory (Rom. 8:28).
 
 Look at the great saints of the Bible. They all experienced acute brokenness during their lifetimes. Yet they were the ones who God used the most powerfully.
 
 Keep trusting God in your brokenness.
 
 “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory” (Matt. 12:20).
 
 For a broken crayon can still color.
