Buy a saddle? What does that mean?
 
 If a friend tells you that you’re a donkey - and you’ve never before heard that about yourself - would you believe him? Of course not! It’s only one person telling you something about yourself. Don’t pay it too much attention. It’s the opinion of one.
 
 But if another person tells you the same thing, perhaps you should pay closer attention. Because now that’s two friends. There could be some truth in what they are saying.
 
 If a third friend confirms what the other two have said, well, it’s probably time to buy a saddle. What they’re telling you is most likely true. It’s time to do a life inventory. Repent. Change behaviors.
 
 The wounds of a brother are invaluable (Prov. 27:6). They can be trusted. God has given us brothers and sisters in Christ so that we can be a source of truth for each other. Speaking the truth in love permits our friendship to stay intact, even when we are told things about ourselves that we don’t want to hear (Eph. 4:15).
 
 In fact, Jesus said the truth will set us free (John 8:32). Free to be the person he created us to be.
 
 We all need friends like this.
 
 Friends who will keep us from making donkeys of ourselves.
