Davidisms - Luck is the Religion of the Lazy

I was watching TV with my wife, Marilynn, recently when someone on the show said, “Luck is the religion of the lazy.”

There’s a lot of truth in that statement.

Lazy people do indeed rely on luck. It’s why they usually fail.

Conversely, hard-working, righteous people rely on work. They use their talents faithfully. They work within a budget and save accordingly. It’s why they most often succeed (Prov. 16:9).

And it’s also why good things come to people who work hard. Observe the ant, Solomon adjures us. How steadily and hard they work (Prov. 6:6-11). And look at how much they eventually save and succeed.

Work heartily for the Lord. With a reverent and sincere heart. One which reflects the Christian principles by which you live (Col. 3:23-24).

Hard work is honorable and virtuous.

And luck is the religion of the lazy.
