If you are a follower of Jesus, your life should have outward marks that reflect your inward convictions. These marks signify that you live your life in a way that imitates Christ.
Contributing to the needs of the saints is another distinguishing mark of a Christian (Romans 12:13).
The needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ should be met by the members of the family of God. From the beginning of the formation of the church, the needs of brothers and sisters in Christ were met by other brothers and sisters in Christ(Acts 2:42-47).
Why? Because God is a giver. He gave us the greatest gift in the history of mankind – the life of His Son, Jesus - to save us from our sins, so that we could spend eternity with Him.
What an incredible example of giving set by our Father!
Therefore, we as Christians are to imitate the generosity of the great Giver. And we do so by looking for needs within the family of God – both locally and globally.
Christians should have a giving heart especially toward those in the persecuted church around the world. It is a sad reality. Those of us living in the freedom to express our faith must remember our brothers and sisters who can’t (Hebrews 13:3).
Ultimately, our call is this: Find a need and fill it. Find a hurt and heal it.
Especially within the family of God, for those who share our faith.
