What will heaven be like? Scripture tells us that three virtues that will continue into eternity: faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13a). If this is true, shouldn’t we start developing these eternal virtues now?
The second of these everlasting virtues is hope. Hope and faith are interconnected, as faith is being sure of what we hope for (Hebrews 11:1). Imagine hope being the anchor of our soul. Faith is the chain that connects our life’s boat to God’s eternal hope.
Hope must exist in heaven. Why? Because there will be a continual longing in our hearts to know our Creator more and more. Indeed, it will take eternity to fathom the essence of who He is and all He has done for us.
In heaven, we will hope for God’s perfect will to be done - as it is on earth. We’ll experience heavenly hope fulfilled because we’ll see God face to face. While on earth, we have only an imperfect understanding of God’s will. But in heaven, we’ll understand it perfectly for the first time (Hebrews 13:12). And hope will last forever.
God has a plan for our lives. He wants us to prosper. He longs to give us hope and a future of goodness (Jeremiah 29:11). This is His great desire for His children.
Don’t give in to despair. If the sun comes up in the morning, there is always hope.
Guess what? The sun came up this morning.
Prepare for heaven now. Always have hope!
