Avodah aims to see all students thriving in their walks with Jesus and to provide ongoing tools and support for parents as they navigate the significant season of raising teenagers.

ABOUT AVODAH

In the original Hebrew, Avodah (uh-VOH-duh) means to work, to serve, and to worship. In God’s economy, work, service, and worship are one in the same.  When we work, we are worshipping.  When we worship, we are serving. When we serve, we are working.

The English language really misses the depth of meaning that can be found in the original Biblical languages. We only understand “work” to mean one thing, whereas in Biblical languages the meanings of words are vast and rich.

Looking back to God’s original intent in Genesis 2, we see that His heartbeat was for us to walk with the presence of the Lord all the days of our lives and to let that permeate every fiber of our being. When humanity fell prey to sin in Genesis 3, we fractured God’s design for our lives. The Creator of the world doesn’t want a compartment of our lives or a time slot of our days. He wants all of us at all times! If Jesus Christ is our firm foundation, we will advance knowing that His love, grace, and power will never fail us.

WHAT'S TO COME

Under the leadership of Moments of Hope Church, Avodah seeks to deepen our relationships with Jesus by developing lasting relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ, strengthening the family unit during the teenage years, and advancing the Kingdom by making disciples of Jesus.

Each month, we will unpack a different topic from a biblical perspective. At the beginning of the month, students and families of middle and high school will come together to have a family dinner where we will reveal the topic for that month and provide tools to support families as they lead their teenagers.

High school and middle school will each meet separately one time a month and then all together one time a month. Towards the end of the month, we will have all middle and high school students gather at MOHC with a speaker to drive home the monthly topic. Outside of these gatherings, we will have "All Out" events. Check them out here to see how you and your family can get involved.
