Have you ever heard someone say, “That’s a stupid question!”? Well, guess what? They were wrong. Any question is a good question if you don’t know the answer. I learned this from my college basketball coach, Coach Smith. He said it to us repeatedly. No one knows everything. Because all people are pupils in the process of learning. In fact, in the Bible the word “disciple” means “pupil.” When Jesus said that the mission of the church is to “make disciples” of all men (Mt. 28:18), he knew that we’d always need to learn. And the best learning comes by asking questions. By grasping and taking in more and more knowledge. Therefore, in order to learn, ask a lot of questions. To parents. To teachers. Mentors. Friends who know things you don’t. Become a lifelong learner. Then every question becomes a good question if you don’t know the answer.
