We sometimes forget the power of our words. Depending on how we use them, words can edify, encourage and build up others. A right word spoken at the right time can be life-changing (Prov. 15:23). Or words can also be used for evil and harm. To demean, shame and tear down. Often causing long-lasting wounds and pain. Some people still have scars from words spoken to them by parents or significant others years, even decades ago. Scripture reveals the mighty influence of our words, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov. 18:21). Let’s use our words wisely! To help people grow, learn and heal. To inspire and uplift. To help others become all God wants them to be. Life and death is in the tongue. Therefore, speak life to those around you.
