Life forever. Yesterday we explored how Jesus brings us life now. In abundance (John 10:10). What was lost in the Garden of Eden was restored through Jesus to give us a meaningful and joyous life on earth now. Jesus also came to earth to give us life forever. It’s probably the most well-known, oft-quoted Scripture: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Only through Jesus is eternal life - life forever - possible. It’s a radical truth of the Gospel. That whoever believes in Jesus will never die. Will have life with him forever. Jesus said, “I came to seek and save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus “came” from heaven to earth to die. So that we can have life forever. Jesus’s eternal life begins now, the day we accept him as Lord and Savior. And this life in us lasts forever. Therefore, always connect the cradle with the cross. They are inseparable. Christmas should always remind us of this truth.
