What do you do when you’re feeling heartache? Discouragement? Despair?

King David experienced a lot of joy throughout his lifetime. Along with plenty of hurt and heartache. Do you know what he did to get through the difficult seasons?

He spoke to his soul.

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:11).

It’s exactly what we should do as well.

The enemy, Satan, constantly accuses and condemns us (Revelation 12:10). We must fight his voice of condemnation by speaking words of hope to our souls! Remind ourselves of how much Jesus loves us. Cares for us. Promises to be with us - no matter what. How he will work everything in our lives for good.

Don’t allow the enemy’s lies to discourage you. Rather, speak to your soul about Jesus’s grace. Say, “I choose to put my hope in God!”

And watch the devil’s condemnation turn into the Father’s joy.
