Davidisms - The Value of Three Cheeseburgers

I love a good cheeseburger and here’s why. I was a high school basketball player, which meant I had a lot of basketball practices. I’d arrive home around 7 pm, and every single night my mom would fix me three cheeseburgers. While I was eating, she would do three things that all parents should emulate. First, she’d sit with me so I wouldn’t have to eat alone. We spent time together. Second, she’d ask questions about my day. She wanted to know what was happening in my life. Third, she’d listen to what I had to say. And we’d talk - together - about whatever situations would come up. And then she’d give me Godly counsel. Children are a gift from God to parents (Psalm 127:3). But to really enjoy them, you need to spend time with them. Use my mom as an example. And if it’s not fixing cheeseburgers, just find ways to spend time with them. Ask questions. Listen. Give great advice. And watch your kids’ affection for you grow through the years. Mom, I’ll never forget these moments with you.
