The eternal God of the universe wants to be your close, personal friend. He longs for you to know Him as my Praise, my Delight, my Cup. To become your personal God. When faced with a tough decision, to whom do you turn? Where do you look for help? God wants you to look to Him. King David looked to God - first and foremost - for every decision he faced. He called God “my lamp” (2 Samuel 22:29). Why would someone use a lamp? One obvious reason is for light. Did you know that during the time King David was alive, people would tie lamps to their feet at night? They needed light from the lamps in order to see their next steps in the dark. That’s why David said that God’s Word is a lamp to his feet (Psalm 119:105). God wants to be a lamp to your feet. To show you His way and will. But God’s lamp is not a high beam on the highway, showing us many yards ahead. No. God only shows us the next step. And asks us to trust Him for the next step after that. And then the next one. He promises to be a lamp on our feet, showing us step after step. Do you look to your Heavenly Daddy to light your path? Pray to Him now: “Father, You are mine. Be my lamp. Light my path for Your perfect will in my life. Help me trust You for each next step in my life.” Trust God today. For the next step. Your personal God promises to show it to you.
