Have you ever heard someone say, “The days are long, but the years are short”? It’s often used by parents when describing how quickly children seem to grow up. But the same holds true when speaking of our whole lifetime on earth. Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes. Though it may not always feel that way - life is truly short. Especially as we enter the latter years of our lives. Each day seems to go by faster than the one before. If you don’t believe it’s true, just ask an older person! Scripture says it this way: “You are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14). Here, and then - Poof! - gone. Here’s the point: Enjoy each day to the fullest! All you have is today. Each day is a gift from God. The day that he has made. We are to rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24). Next time you feel like your days are dragging on, stop and remember how quickly they’ll be gone. And enjoy today in every way.
