The Marks of a Christian - Outdo One Another in Showing Honor

Is Jesus the Lord of your life? Is your entire life under the control of the Holy Spirit? Are you living your life in a way that is pleasing to God?   Let’s continue to look closely at the outward marks of a Christian, which reflect an inward life connected to Jesus. By doing so, we’ll ensure we are faithfully following Jesus in all areas of our life. Another mark of a Christian is this: “Outdo one another in showing honor” (Romans 12:10b).                       Used here, honor is synonymous with respect. It means we see others as priceless. Invaluable. Irreplaceable. We hold them in higher esteem than we hold ourselves. It appears that competition among believers is permitted in Scripture in only one circumstance – when showing honor. Therefore, Christians should compete with one another in this way. Can you imagine a church family trying to outdo one honor with honor? Saying that you are more important than I am? If so, I’ll show you a church family that people can’t wait to enter and be a part of.
