Davidisms - Great Leaders Are Great Readers

I learned this truth from Pat Williams. He’s the former GM of the Philadelphia 76ers, an accomplished motivational speaker, and the author of over 100 books. Pat said that he reads a book a week. And has been doing so since his youth. No wonder he is so accomplished! Did you know Christ-followers are commanded to read regularly? “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). A revival was set off in Israel when King Josiah discovered the Book of the Law hidden in the Temple. The people read it repeatedly. Repented of their sin. And then revival broke out! Here’s my point: Read God’s Word daily. His Word is our spiritual food. Our daily bread. And try to read a new book, if not weekly, try monthly. Watch your knowledge and wisdom increase, especially as a leader. Because great leaders are great readers.
