Davidisms - Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled

Jesus spoke these words to his disciples: “Let not your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1). Then Jesus followed this command with the reason our hearts should not be troubled: “Believe in God. Believe also in me.” It’s a message from Jesus to all of his followers.
 
 What Jesus was trying to teach us is this: We can choose to focus our minds on the size of our problems, or on the size of our God. Simply stated: the condition of our hearts is our choice.
 
 When our hearts focus on the difficulties in our lives, we’re inviting anxiety to reside in our hearts. It’s as if we’re flinging open the door to our heart and saying, “Welcome! Come on in!”
 
 But when we make the choice to focus our hearts on Jesus, to believe in his sovereign oversight of our lives, we’re able to embrace his perfect peace. Because Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:12).
 
 The choice is yours. Faith or fear? Serenity or strife? Peace or pressure?
 
 Fix your eyes on Jesus. Turn your messes over to him. He alone is in control. He will care for you.
 
 When you do, your heart will be troubled no more.
