Let’s continue to learn from some of Jesus’s toughest teachings - His relational commands, most of which are found in Luke 6, verses 27-38.

Jesus concludes His teaching with this: “For with the measure you use, it will be given back to you (Luke 6:38b).

In this chapter of Scripture, Jesus is teaching us about relationships.  About not retaliating.  Forgiving.  Blessing.  Doing good.  Turning the cheek.  Being generous.  Giving.  The Golden Rule.  Not judging.  Not condemning.

Jesus gives us many examples of how to love others.  When we are gentle toward others, they will be gentle toward us.  When we give our lives away, life is given back to us - with more blessings than we can think of or imagine.

Jesus’s message through these commands is this: It’s what we give, not what we receive that matters the most in life and relationships.  Because in all aspects of our lives, this maxim is true: Generosity begets generosity.

Just imagine our world if people would live like this!  If all desired to give more than they would receive.  Tensions would abate.  Love would abound.  Strife would cease.

God’s will would be done.  His kingdom would come.

And the King of the kingdom, Jesus, would reign forever and ever.
