Davidisms - Do Your Best, Give God the Rest

Sometimes life is hard. Other times it’s easy. Oftentimes, it’s both, simultaneously. But no matter your current life situation, always do this: your best. Then, give God the rest. We do our best when we forego our human tendency to be self-reliant. Instead, we make a decision to rely on God.Scripture says it this way: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Our job is to do our best. To do our part. That which we’re able to do. Obediently. Excellently. Passionately. After that, we trust God with the rest. With our looming questions. Unseen answers. Unknown outcomes. It is then - when we trust God by giving him the rest - that we’re exercising our faith. And when we do so, it pleases him (Hebrews 11:6). Our lives need balance. A healthy understanding of the difference between our job and God’s sovereign oversight over our best efforts. And that balance can be found when we do our best, and give God the rest.
