Davidisms - How To Avoid Criticism

Want to avoid criticism forever? Here is the surefire way for you never to be criticized: never stand up for anything. Many people fear criticism. It scorches their soul. Hurts their heart. And that fear drives them to try to please everyone. To never take a stand. To avoid conflict at all costs. But there’s a problem with people-pleasers. If you love Jesus, you must stand up for truth. Jesus did. And he expects us to, too. So much so that he forewarned us that we’d have trouble in this world (John 16:33). He told us to expect conflict and prepare for persecution (Matthew 5:11). There is a good side to criticism in Jesus’s mind. Criticism proves you are standing for him. Again, the only way to avoid it is to never stand for anything. You then live a timid, tepid life rooted in only pleasing yourself. Instead of pleasing people, try this: seek only to please God. Feel his daily smile. Hear his, “Well done.” Then the opinions and criticism of others pale in comparison to his approval.
