This truth is from my dad: If you are single and waiting to meet the right person, what are you doing now to develop Christ-like qualities in yourself? My dad wanted his kids to become Christ-followers. The kind of spouse someone would value to marry. Instead of us trying to find the right person, he wanted us to become the right person. Dad wanted us to first develop certain qualities in our own hearts. “Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit” (1 Pet. 3:4). Then, when two people with hearts devoted to Jesus come together, they’re able to look forward to a lifetime of love and joy. It’s a timeless truth from my dad. Look inward before you look outward. As you move toward marriage, instead of trying to find the right person, become the right person.
