People ask me all the time, “How can I live a holy life pleasing to God? Give me some practical tips.” I always point them to the same place: the 10 Commandments. In the Old Testament, the 10 Commandments are repeatedly called “the testimony.” They reveal God’s character. His nature. Attributes and traits. A loving parent lays down ground rules and expectations for his child to lead a safe, productive, and successful life. God the Father gave us the 10 commandments to help us lead our best lives possible. Both in our relationship with him, and in our relationships with each other. The 10 commandments are signposts that point us down a straight and narrow path. To obey them is to live a holy life, one that is pleasing to God. Start there. With each one. See how you’re doing. With Jesus empowering your heart, you can obey them. And the desire to obey them shows a heart questing for God.
