Every person on earth has struggles and temptations from without. Difficult people. Financial demands. Wayward kids. Pressure at work. But your biggest enemy in life is from within. It’s yourself. In our fallen human nature, our bodies become a gateway to sin. Our “flesh” naturally craves comfort and pleasure. Immediate gratification. And we often succumb to temptation because of it. Which is why God wants the fruit of the Spirit of self-control to be in us all (Gal. 5:22). We must learn how to resist sin. By saying no to destructive temptations. When we learn to crucify our flesh - and let the Holy Spirit live in and through us - we’re able to walk in victory (Gal. 5:24; Rom. 8:37). And then we can win the battle with our inward lusts, and our outward enemies will diminish as well. Just remember: Your biggest enemy will always be yourself.
