Davidisms - Don't Give Up Ground You've Already Taken

This life lesson comes from General George Patton. When he and his armies conquered enemy territory, he would never give up the land again. This same practice is illustrated in Scripture. God commanded Joshua to take the Promised Land - every foot of it. Joshua and his men were to advance through it courageously (Joshua 1:8-9). Every square inch was a promised land from God to his chosen people. And God knew that the enemy needed to be driven out. Eradicated. Gone. If the Israelites’ enemies remained, they would be in danger of adopting destructive customs and habits. What have you conquered that must never be given up? Alcohol? Fear? Anxiety? Self-loathing? Then keep fighting to maintain victory in these areas. Don’t give what you’ve already conquered back to the enemy! You’ll only slide backwards into defeat and destruction. And you’ll seldom, if ever, know future victories by God’s power.
