Davidisms - Either Our Faith Defines Our Circumstances, or Our Circumstances Define Our Faith

Everyone goes through difficult times. Bad circumstances happen to us all. But when they do, do we let the circumstances define our faith? Or vice versa? Jesus was clear. He told us to expect tribulations in this world (John 16:33). But don’t forget the second half of the verse where Jesus said, “But rejoice, I have overcome the world.” If our life is hidden in Jesus (Colossians 3:3), we believe he is working in everything. Our faith becomes steadfast. How do we develop a steadfast faith? How do we ensure that our faith defines our circumstances? We return to John 16:33, “I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace.” Did you catch that? In me. Our only source of peace is in Jesus. Trusting him. Resting in him. Therefore, we look at life’s circumstances through the lenses of faith. Trust. Hope. Love. And know that our Father in heaven is in even our worst circumstances. Because ultimately it comes down to this truth: Either our faith defines our circumstances, or our circumstances define our faith. Which is it for you?
