Have you ever heard someone say about life, “The journey is the reward.”? As you move toward your life’s destination, remember: The journey should be enjoyed. We are to rejoice in the days the Lord has given us, and give thanks for the many blessings he has bestowed upon our lives. Yes, we all experience hard times. Setbacks along the way. Jesus promised them to anyone who decides to follow him (Luke 9:23). But when you look at the sum of your life - as compared to the temporary, sometimes difficult seasons - you should be able to do so joyfully. With fulfillment. An understanding that yes, God works in all things for our good (Rom. 8:28). God has a plan for us all, for a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11). Constantly seek God’s purposes in your lives, and strive for all his purposes to be fulfilled in you and through you. Just don’t forget to enjoy the journey. The stops. Halts. Seasons of rest. Sudden and unexpected blessings. God’s sensational serendipities. Don’t forget that the joy of the journey will far surpass the happiness experienced at the eventual destination. Enjoy every step of the journey. Start today! God is with you as you do.
