Davidisms: I've Never Seen a U-Haul Attached to a Hearse

I’ve never seen a U-Haul attached to a hearse!

It’s a thoughtful image as you contemplate your life on this earth. Especially considering all the effort, time and money we spend accumulating stuff. Lots and lots of stuff.

We will leave it all behind. Our wealth will then be spent by others.

Both the Old and New Testaments make this clear. “As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand” (Ecclesiastes 5:15). “For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world” (1 Timothy 6:7).

Spend your time giving money away. Doing good works for others. Providing for the poor. Meeting the needs of the vulnerable. Using God’s resources that he has loaned you to care for and serve others.

When you do so, you’re laying up your rewards in heaven (Matthew 6:19-20).

More than anyone who has ever lived, Jesus knew that you can’t attach a U-Haul to a hearse!
