Davidisms - If You Burn the Candle at Both Ends, You're Not as Bright as You Think You Are

Did you know there are more commands to observe the Sabbath - one weekly day of rest - than any of the other 10 Commandments? God created the world in six days. He rested on the seventh. He didn’t need to rest, but he did so to set an example for us. His people. Why? God knew we would need rest. He didn’t create us to be machines. We are people, created by God to work but also to rest. Perhaps God knew that we would work ourselves to death. Striving day and night to achieve. Rest is requisite. Because if you burn the candle at both ends, you’re not as bright as you think you are. Your passion for and ability to follow your dreams will burn out if you don’t take time to rest. Rejuvenate. Take your day off! Be relentless about it. Do things you love to do. To become refreshed. You weren’t created to burn the candle at both ends.
