Davidisms: If You Don't Know What to Do, Don't!

Think of the last time you found yourself in a situation where you didn’t know how to proceed. Couldn’t decide what to do. Arrived at a stalemate. Not sure of the next step.

What does God expect us to do when we find ourselves in predicaments such as this? The answer is nothing.

It’s quite simple, really. If you don’t know what to do, don’t! Wait on the Lord. As fallen people we are prone to taking matters into our own hands. Trying to solve our problems ourselves. Often, we only make situations worse.

Waiting gives God time to change people and circumstances. And us as well.

God strengthens us during our times of waiting like no other time (Isaiah 40:31). It’s why we wait. “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).

God always wants what’s best for us. Trust him. Wait on him. And when you don’t know what to do, do nothing.

God will eventually show you his next step.
