Davidisms: It Is Fatal to Go Into War Without the Will to Win It

Douglas MacArthur spoke this truth, “It’s fatal to go into war without the will to win it.”

Are you aware that Christ followers are constantly at war (Ephesians 6:12)? We are. Our enemy is Satan and he is the supreme enemy of our souls. His job description is to kill, steal and destroy anything and everything that God created (John 10:10a). Including me and you.

This ongoing, spiritual war will continue until one of two things happen. One, you leave this earth to join Jesus in heaven. Or two, Jesus returns to this earth.

But here’s the wonderful catch: We have already won the war! “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). We proclaim thanks to God who always leads us in triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14). Over the enemy and all his wiles.

So, if we are in a war, we need to be in it to win it!

And the surest way to win is to remain close to Jesus, the victor over sin, death and the devil. He has already won for us! We fight against the enemy, knowing the victory is already ours.

What good news!
