Light. It’s who Jesus is. The light of the world (John 8:12). Our Savior whose birth was supernaturally surrounded by light. Think of the glorious star that guided the Wise Men from the east. Stars hovered over Jesus’s birthplace, its beams showing them the path to the Christ child. In the middle of a dark night, the angels exploded into this world by a great, heavenly light. The shepherds suddenly saw them as they were watching over their flocks. “And the glory of the Lord shone around them” (Luke 2:9). Light will always overcome darkness. It overpowered darkness the day Jesus was born. It still does. It always will. Even the tiniest ion of light eliminates the dark. Jesus came to earth to give light to our next steps. He is a lamp to our feet. A light to our path (Psalm 119:105). To show us how to walk in his ways. With Jesus’s light in us, we too become lights in the world (Matt. 5:14-16). Showing the world the way home. Jesus is the light of the world. Today and forever.
