By now, I’m sure you’ve realized I had a wise and wonderful earthly daddy. He poured wisdom into my life, and I benefited greatly from it.


Here’s another tenet he taught me: “Don’t just marry a beautiful face, marry a beautiful person.”


Dad said this to me and my brother, over and over again. Knowing that most guys look first and foremost at the outside, not the inside of a woman. He reminded us that outer beauty fades, but inward beauty glows and grows forever.


Scripture says it this way: “He who finds a good wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord” (Prov. 18:22).


A good wife brings joy and honor to her husband. Her character is noble. Wise. Kind. Dad would often say that nurses and teachers made great wives because their hearts were dedicated to serving and giving.


Oh, by the way, this teaching is true for women as well.


All, remember this wise teaching from my dad. Apply it to your own life.


Don’t just marry a beautiful face, marry a beautiful person.
