My Personal God

What makes the Christian faith so different from other religions? For one, God wants to have a personal relationship with us. Through Jesus, He loves His children intimately. He made us to be in a deep, abiding, personal relationship with Him. Our God is not distant and unapproachable. Instead, He’s a loving Daddy who yearns to be involved in every area of our lives. He wants us to walk closely with Him each and every day. This week, we begin a new series, “My Personal God.” I want to show you how intimate and friendly God is toward us. How He seeks a distinct personal relationship with each of us. Isn’t that amazing? The eternal God of the universe wants to be our friend. Companion. Ally. King David must have known this reality. Throughout the psalms, King David constantly used the word “my” when referring to God.  It reflected the closeness he must have felt toward His Creator. David’s description helps us understand an omnipotent, all-powerful God who is also deeply personal. David described Him as my refuge. My fortress. My dwelling place. My rock. My prosperity. And many more. I hope this series will help draw you into the loving arms of your Daddy, who so longs to be your personal guide, companion, ally, protector, and friend.
