The eternal God of the universe wants to be your close, personal friend. He longs to be your shield. Your steadfast love. Your stronghold. He yearns to have a personal relationship with you.

Did you know the Creator of all also wants to be your personal “deliverer” (Psalm 18:2)? That He longs to protect you and keep you? To give you peace? To deliver you from your enemies?

We will have enemies on this earth. The most obvious is Satan. The evil one relentlessly pursues us. He wants to control our lives. Use us as his pawn. Trap us in sin. Keep us in the prison of discouragement and despair.

But God. Jesus said to pray like this: “Deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13).

The Lord’s grace gift of mercy delivers us from our sin. When we become entrapped, overwhelmed or burdened, the Lord’s grace and power delivers us. Forgives us. Sets us free from past sin. Washes away our mistakes. Gives us new life and hope.

Do you know God as your deliverer? Pray to Him today: “Father, I’m a sinner. Thank you for your gift of grace. Daddy, deliver me from my enemies - those in the world, and the fleshly desires of my heart. You are my personal God - my deliverer!”

You will have many afflictions and enemies in this life.

But the Lord will deliver you from them all.
