My Personal God: My Lord

by David Chadwick
God is your loving Daddy. He wants to be intimately involved in every area of your life. Like Abraham, we were created to be friends of God (James 2:23). As his friend, God longs for a deeply personal relationship with you.
While very personal, God is also sovereign. He is in control of everything. He is Lord over all. King David was profoundly aware of God’s sovereignty when he wrote: "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you" (Psalm 16:2).
David understood that apart from recognizing God as Lord over all, nothing in life made much sense. Life itself offers no guarantees. But God’s sovereign oversight does.
King David believed this reality. Do you? Do you know that the eternal God of the universe is sovereignly overseeing every detail of your life?
But it doesn’t stop at his sovereign oversight. Remember how we started today’s topic? He is also loving, personal and intimate. God is your personal Lord. A sovereign God who is near, close, loving, intimate, and kind. My Lord!
God wants to forever fill your heart with his goodness, his perfect peace, and his everlasting joy.
Say to God today, “You are my Lord. Before the foundations of the earth, you made me fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14). You know every hair on my head (Luke 12:7). Without you, I am lost. But with you, I am found. You oversee my entire life. You are my personal God.”
God wants to live in a personal, intimate, living relationship with you every moment of every day. Believe this and your faith will never be the same.
When you believe God is personal do you feel God’s peace flooding your soul? Peace is the natural byproduct of a heart that knows God as “my Lord!”
