My Personal God: My Strength

by David Chadwick
When King David needed anything, he turned to God: “I love you, O Lord, my strength” (Psalm 18:1). David’s dependency on God throughout his life was how he became God’s close friend.
The Lord became David’s strength. And God wants to become your strength, too.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
When you are tired, your Daddy in heaven wants you to rest in Him. To stop striving. To stop looking to the things of this world for help.
He wants you to look to Him as your strength.
Why would we look anywhere else when the strength we need is already inside of us? The Apostle Paul knew God as his strength, which is why he said, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). He also said that the power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives within the hearts of those who believe (Romans 8:11).
Do you believe the God of the universe wants to be your strength? A source of power IN you? TO you? He does. He wants to be the ONE on whom you steadfastly lean. When you do, that begins his power flowing in and through you.
Dear friends, let go and let God. Release your problems to him and let him work.
Say to the Lord today: “Lord, you alone are the source of my personal strength. Help me to trust you so deeply that I believe anything is possible with you. You are my personal God!”
Then let God’s strength be your strength.
