Hope. It’s another Christmas word that is found everywhere! On our trees. Mantles. Buildings. As it should be! We can’t live for long without hope. “May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you” (Psalm 33:22). Jesus came to us in a manger. Walked among us for 33 years. Why? Because God wanted us to know that he is not distant, but near. Near to the single parent struggling with kids. Near to the person battling cancer. Near to those slogging it out day by day by day. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). God took on human flesh and became a man so we could better know him. Jesus moved into our neighborhood to be near us. It’s through his nearness that we can find hope. Evil does not have the last word! God’s love wins over sickness. Evil. Disease. Death. Live this Christmas in God’s hope for your life. God knows you by name. No plan of his in your life can be thwarted (Job 42:2). Jesus has not forgotten you.
