Are you a people-pleaser? Most of us are. The problem with people-pleasing is that you’re focused on winning the approval of someone other than God. In the book of Galatians, Paul writes that if his heart’s desire was to please people, he’d never have chosen to follow Jesus and preach the gospel (Gal. 1:10). Why? Because it’s impossible to do both. Here’s how to overcome people-pleasing: Make Jesus the master passion of your life. Desire to serve him above all else. To advance his kingdom more than any other desire in life. To play to an audience of one. For when obediently following God’s will becomes the master passion of your life, the opinions of other people will not greatly matter. Seek God’s will above all else. Then do it. It’s the only sure-fire way to defeat people-pleasing.
