Davidisms - The Heart of the Matter is a Matter of the Heart

Do you want to change your life? Change the way you think? Focus? Live? Then you must first change your heart. Why the heart? Because the heart of the matter is a matter of the heart. Scripture tells us that the heart is deceitful above all things (Jer. 17:9). It can convince us that we’re okay - even when we’re actually headed straight to hell. The heart is the wellspring of life (Prov. 4:23). Out of it flows all life and meaning. And what we believe in our heart, informs what we think in our head. Therefore, to change your life, you must first change your heart. Go to Jesus. Tell him what you need. Ask him for help. Cry out, “Make me a new creation, oh God!” (2 Cor. 5:17). Then let God do his work in and for you. Let him be God - trusting that he will change your heart so that it becomes more like his. It’s why Jesus came from heaven to earth: to create a new heart in you (Psalm 51:10). Because the heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.
