My Personal God: Introduction

Do you know what makes the Christian faith uniquely different from every other religion in the world? It is the fact that we serve a God who wants to have a personal relationship with us.
God sent Jesus to the world because he loves his children deeply and was on a rescue mission to restore the connection that was lost with sin. He longs for us to have a deep, abiding, personal relationship with him.
As followers of Jesus, our God is ever-present and approachable. He is a loving Daddy who loves to be involved in every area of our lives. He wants us to walk closely with him each and every day.
The eternal God of the universe wants to be your friend, companion, and ally. He seeks to have a personal relationship with each one of us. When you really stop and consider this, it changes everything about your life!
This relationship is not based on following rules and regulations. We don’t have to earn it. God wants a living relationship with us simply because he loves us.
King David knew this reality. Throughout the Book of Psalms, King David constantly used the word “my” when referring to God. He felt close to his Creator because he knew him on a personal level.
This daily devotional is called “My Personal God.” Over the next 40 days, I want to take you through 40 “my” statements that King David used to describe his personal relationship with God and to explore how much God loves his children.
David revealed to his readers how God is omnipotent, all-powerful, yet deeply personal. Let us look together over the next month or so at some of the ways David described God. My refuge. My fortress. My dwelling place. My rock. My prosperity. And so many more!
I pray this devotional draws you into the loving arms of your Daddy, who longs to be your everything!
