My Personal God - My Dwelling Place

Do you know the eternal God of the universe wants to be your personal friend?Companion? Ally?

God truly does.

The Lord is your loving Daddy who yearns to be involved in every area of your life. He wants to walk closely with you every day. He longs for an intimate, deeply personal relationship with you.

King David knew God as a close friend. So much so that he refers to Him as his “dwelling place.” A place of refuge where no evil can exist, and no harm can happen (Psalm 91:9-10).

A dwelling place is where our bodies feel comfort. It’s a warm home where we permanently reside. It’s a place where we go to rest. Exhale. Pull up the drawbridge, put alligators in the moat, and feel safe and secure.

Our hearts, souls, and minds need a dwelling place even more so than our bodies. David rested in the arms of his Father – the very presence of God became David’s dwelling place. His home. His life. His identity. His security. His comfort.

God longs to become your dwelling place as well. To give you a lifetime pass to His safe house. A place to feel as if you’re home. There’s always a welcome mat. A warm fire. Closeness and intimacy between friends - you and your Creator.

Do you long for a safe haven? An impregnable castle? A place where your soul can breathe?

Then say throughout your day, when you are feeling hopeless, say, “God, you aremy dwelling place.” When you’re feeling anxious or alarmed, repeat: “God, you are MY dwelling place.”

And then feel God’s peace, that passes all understanding, no matter what you may be walking through.
